Dakota opens in Newcastle

The hotel, constructed by GMI, has thrown its doors open and is now welcoming guests to the 118-bedroom venue.

Located at St Anne’s Wharf on Quayside, the former office building has been renovated by GMI and is the fourth Dakota hotel delivered by the construction firm for owners Evans Property.

The other hotels are in Leeds, Manchester, and Glasgow, with a fifth under development at Manchester Airport.

As well as hotel rooms, the ground floor is now home to Bar & Grill and a reconfigured courtyard to serve as a drop-off area.

In terms of sustainability, PV panels and air source heat pumps have ticked those boxes.

Gary Oates, GMI’s divisional managing director for the North East, said: “This is a key milestone in the regeneration of the Quayside and this project showcases our expertise in high-end hospitality developments, as well as our commitment to delivering exceptional construction solutions that elevate cityscapes.

“The transformation of this landmark site is a testament to GMI’s dedication to preserving architectural heritage while introducing contemporary design and sustainable solutions.

“The result is a stylish and sophisticated venue that will enhance Newcastle’s status as a top-tier hospitality and tourism destination.”
