Lovell breaks ground in Ormesby

The 49 affordable homes are being delivered on a 4.4-acre site on land south of Spencerbeck Farm, off Normanby Road.

Thirteen Group will work with the developer to manage the site once the homes are built, which is expected to be at the end of the year.

As well as public open space, a tree-lined gateway feature will lead to a central street on the site and Lovell will also make contributions towards Teesmouth and Cleveland Coast Special Protection Area.

Phil Jones head of land and partnerships for Lovell North East said: “Outline planning permission was granted in 2019 for this land, which has been allocated in the Local Plan.

“We will be creating a vibrant new community which, through the variety of homes being provided, will help meet the needs of people in the local community.

“This development has been designed to be eco-friendly, with a landscaping scheme which will see existing trees retained and enhanced wherever possible and new shrubs and trees planted.

“Active travel will be encouraged by the provision of a footpath connecting the site with an existing right of way. Parents will appreciate that the site is also within walking distance of schools in the area.”

Olivia McClea, Thirteen’s head of land and business growth, added: “We’re working hard to provide more homes for local people and have delivered a record 650 affordable new homes in the financial year just ended.

“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Lovell, and with funding support from Homes England, and look forward to seeing these new homes take shape.”
