Marley Tiles factory to become 60-home development

Story Homes has secured approval for the Newlands, Northumberland scheme, with work expected to start in autumn.

The developer worked with Lichfields on the application, which will see the 17-acre site turned into four- to six-bedroom houses.

Located approximately 1km from Ebchester, on the border of County Durham, the brownfield site has been unused since the factory closed in 1998.

Previous housing plans have been submitted and refused for the site, which has fallen into disrepair, with the most recent being in 2018 for 105 homes.

Plans for the site include landscaping, open space areas, a village green, cycle hub, EV charging facilities, and improved wildlife habitats.
