Martin steps up at Equans

Laura Martin’s promotion to head of partnerships will bolster the firm’s ability to serve clients looking for expertise in decarbonisation and refurbishment across the North East & Cumbria.

Martin moves up into the role after a number of years in senior positions within the business. Equans said the appointment will strengthen its position as a leader in providing bespoke solutions which meet the needs of clients looking to achieve Zero Carbon targets or modernise their stock.

With this new remit, Martin will work with clients spanning the housing, education, and public sectors offering them the benefit of her own experience and the technical skills and support Equans can provide in the construction and green energy sectors.

Coming from a background in development management within local authorities and leading the housing development function at Durham County Council, Martin’s experience in grant funding capabilities and links with regional and national government is expected to provide key support for Equans’ partners.

With opportunities expected to come from the new North East devolution deal and further grant funding programmes coming online, Equans is able to support ambitious projects from the early planning and funding application stage right the way through to design and delivery.

Martin said: “I am delighted to take on this new role at Equans at a time where the construction industry is at the forefront of developing and installing the latest green technologies.

“The need to decarbonise and modernise is high on the agenda of clients across the region and Equans has the capabilities to provide bespoke solutions which can take projects from the earliest discussions right the way through to completion.”

Paul Watson, regional director for the North East & Cumbria at Equans, added: “Equans in the North East & Cumbria is in a strong position with a healthy pipeline of work which will see our teams really making a difference to the lives of residents and communities across the region.

“Laura’s promotion comes at an opportune moment for the business as we look to strengthen our existing relationships and develop new ones and I know her wealth of experience will be key in making this happen.”
