North Tyneside to receive £20m regeneration funding
The Pride in Place funding will support regeneration projects in Percy Main, Chirton, and North Shields.
Subject to approval, the funding will be distributed over the next 10 years, with spending decisions made by a local Neighbourhood Board.
The PiP programme targets communities identified by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as requiring significant investment in local infrastructure and neighbourhood renewal.
The three North Tyneside communities were selected based on a range of socio-economic indicators, including crime, employment, education and skills, health and disability, and income levels.
The allocation forms part of the Government’s wider £5.4bn Pride in Place programme, which will provide long-term investment to almost 300 communities across England.
Further details on the projects to be brought forward through the funding are expected once the programme is formally approved and delivery plans are developed.
