Persimmon submits Newton Aycliffe plans
The housebuilder wants to add 142 homes to the Eldon Whins development on the edge of the County Durham town.
The development initially consisted of around 250 homes, built in a partnership between Keepmoat and Homes England.
Persimmon’s plans for this addition to the scheme include a mix of two- to five-bed houses, 15% of which will be affordable.
The site will, of course, include public open spaces, including children’s play parks.
In terms of local contributions, Persimmon has suggested funding towards schools, healthcare provision, highway improvements, and a toucan crossing on Middridge Road.
Olly Thompson, Persimmon Durham land director said: “We are pleased to bring these plans forward for new, energy efficient homes in Newton Aycliffe.
“New homes are needed and, in these plans, we hope to contribute to the community with affordable homes for first-time buyers and families alike.”
