Willis signs 250-year lease at Teesside Airport
The aviation services firm intends to develop up to six more narrow and wide-body hangars within the planned Aviation Village located on 50 acres west of the airport.
The deal marks the latest in a series of investments by Willis at Teesside including a recently opened a £13.5m twin-bay hangar designed for major aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul operations.
The Aviation Village development was granted planning permission by Darlington Council in 2023, and aims to strengthen Teesside Airport’s role in the UK’s aviation sector.
Originally, the land west of the main terminal building was earmarked for 350 homes before it was brought back into public ownership in 2019.
