Story Homes advances next North East project
Hot on the heels of consents in Alnwick and at the ex-Ever Ready plot in County Durham, the housebuilder wants to create 60 homes on the former Marley Tiles factory site in Ebchester.
Pod and planner Lichfields are working with the Cumbrian housing firm on the scheme, with the project team also including Sirius, transport advisor Eddisons, Pegasus, OS Ecology and Elliott Consultancy.
Story has now submitted plans to redevelop the site east of Lead Lane, Newlands – the site is within Northumberland, close to the County Durham border.
The scheme will deliver 61 homes, said Story, with designs that take into consideration the local landscape context, with three distinct character areas set across the three different levels of the site.
A consultation has been held. The scheme includes landscaping and open space areas, with a village green at the heart of the proposed community. The development includes improved habitats for wildlife, and the homes will have EV charging points amd low carbon heating systems.
Richard Swann, planning manager for Story Homes said: “I’m delighted that we’ve submitted our planning application to redevelop the land at the former Marley Tiles factory.
“The project team have worked extremely hard to ensure that the final scheme is sympathetic to its local surroundings, responds to the design aesthetics of rural Northumberland and takes into consideration the needs of the local community.
“If our plans are approved, we can transform this derelict, previously developed land into a safe attractive residential area.”
Story Homes hopes for a planning decision by summer 2024. The plans can be viewed on the council’s planning portal with the reference 23/04126/FUL.
The housebuilder is working with Miller Homes on the ex-Ever Ready battery factory in Tanfield, with consent now in place for 288 homes.
