First Burtree Garden Village plans submitted

Hellens Group has submitted an application for 122 houses at its scheme in Darlington, the first phase of which will include 750 homes, green infrastructure, and a 20-acre public park.

Developing the project alongside Homes England and Darlington Borough Council, the affordable housing provider will ultimately deliver 2,000 homes, 200,000 sq ft of employment space, and community amenities over the next 20 years.

If approved, work on the County Durham project is expected to start in the next few months.

The application for these first homes follows quick on the heels of the recently signed S106 Agreement.

Kate Hellens, managing director of Hellens Residential, said: “Our aspiration is for all these homes to be affordable, ensuring that local families and individuals can access high-quality housing that meets their needs.”
